Doug Ford’s mandate to his Conservative ministers was always cuts

Doug Ford’s Conservative mandate letters should have been released publicly four years ago. They should be released today, immediately.

But make no mistake: Ontarians saw exactly what Doug Ford told his ministers to do, with no mandate from Ontarians to do it:

Cut.

The Conservatives cut healthcare, education and everything else.

When the Liberals released mandate letters they were just as phony as the Conservatives. The Health minister’s letter didn’t say freeze hospital budgets - but that’s what they did. The Education minister’s letter didn’t say shut down 600 schools - but that’s what they did.

The Wynne Liberal mandate letter also didn’t direct Steven Del Duca to build a GO station in his own riding against all expert advice.

The only real mandate the Liberals had were the $500,000 per cabinet minister party fundraising targets, Del Duca included.

Doug Ford would cut again, especially after he mandated his Conservative ministers to make brutal cuts. Only Andrea Horwath will fix what is broken in Ontario and invest in the public services that matter.
